Island is a Chromium-based secure enterprise browser that embeds security controls directly into the browsing session so teams can access SaaS and internal web apps without breaking workflows. It delivers last-mile data protection for employees, contractors, and BYOD users by applying policy at the point where information is viewed, copied, or moved.
Administrators set identity- and context-aware rules and enforce Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) decisions before a session starts, then apply browser policy enforcement to control actions like downloads, uploads, copy/paste, printing, and screenshots through Data Loss Prevention (DLP). For privileged workflows, Island supports step-up authentication and captures session recordings with detailed audit logging to speed investigations and reduce risky access sprawl.
Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Dallas, Island announced a $250M Series E in March 2025 at a $4.8B valuation (about $730M raised). The company reports System and Organization Controls (SOC) 2 Type II completion for the Enterprise Browser and holds an ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certificate for its information security management system.
